The Calanus is frozen upon harvest into these small blocks giving the aquarist a product that is second to none for quality and freshness. These bars contain virtually 100% whole intact Calanus organisms giving you a food that even the finickiest of fish will find difficult to resist.
What is Calanus? Calanus¨ is a decapod (10 legged) free swimming zooplankton that are instantly recognised by their intense blood-orange colouration. This colouration stems from the extremely high levels of astaxanthin and other carotenoids stored within the Calanus¨ body. Calanus¨ are highly beneficial to the immune system of aquatic life therefore providing greatly improved survival rates.
Pieces of Calanus freezer bars can be broken of thawed and stored in a refrigerator for up to 14 days for easy feeding. Available in 85g bars Ingredients: Calanus Analysis Protein 10-12% / Lipids 6-8% Ash 2% / Moisture 80% Astaxanthin 120ppm / Total Carotenoids 150-200ppmCalanus Enrichment is a blend of carotenoids, antioxidants, omega 3 fatty acids, edible wax esters and vitamins.
This blend of ingredients is extracted at low temperature directly from the Calanus without the use of any chemicals or solvents. The ingredients found in this product are the purest you will find as the Calanus are at the base of the food web feeding on micro algae where there is little or no pollution.
